New data from Rightmove has revealed the top 10 most searched areas for rental properties in 2017, based on prospective tenants browsing its website.
The study, reported on Landlord Today website, shows that Bristol was the most searched for rental location this year. The top ten areas for rental searches in 2017 were, in chronological order:
- Bristol
- Birmingham
- Leeds
- Manchester
- Nottingham
- Liverpool
- Glasgow
- Cambridge
- Bournemouth
The data also shows that Bristol was the top destination for those looking to buy property (followed by York, Norwich, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Manchester and Nottingham), replacing Manchester, which topped the chart in 2016.
A spokesman from Andrews Property Group in Bishopston was quoted on the Landlord Today website as saying: “Bristol has grown in popularity in recent times for many reasons, employment is high and the property market is strong. However, it is the diverse culture of the city which has the most draw for people migrating to Bristol.
“From the many festivals each year to the street art we are famous for, Bristol has it all, independent shops on thriving high streets such as Gloucester Road in the north and North Street in the South of the City are a mark of the heritage of Bristol along with the obvious landmarks such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Bristol has something for everyone from the bohemian streets of St Werburghs to the grandeur of Clifton Village.”
